The Telangana government has announced that houses under the Indiramma Housing Scheme will be allotted to eligible beneficiaries before the 15th of this month, with distribution scheduled around Ugadi. Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy made the announcement, assuring that the Government of Telangana will fully support the poor without causing hardship.

He clarified that:

All eligible beneficiaries will receive house sanctions before the 15th of this month.
Houses will be provided free of cost under the Indiramma Housing Scheme.
A socio-economic survey has been conducted to identify genuine beneficiaries.

Relief for Bhoodan Land Families

The announcement comes amid criticism over demolition of houses built on Vinoba Bhave Bhoodan lands in Khammam.

Vinoba Bhave initiated the Bhoodan movement, under which land was donated to the landless. Recently, around 720 families who had been residing on such lands reportedly faced demolition.

The minister stated that:

Eligible families who lost homes will be allotted both house sites and constructed houses.
No injustice will be done to the poor.

The government has fixed a muhurat (auspicious time) for house allotment in Hyderabad on the occasion of Ugadi.

Additionally, the minister announced:

Anganwadi centers will be set up in the new housing colonies.
Government schools will also be established for residents.
